Draft Disappointment

As pleased as I am that the Bulls picked Derrick Rose, I have to rate the 2008 NBA Draft a huge disappointment.  It was all going beautifully until Memphis traded Kevin Love to Minnesota as part of a deal for O.J. Mayo, thus precluding the possibility of seeing a Gay-Love frontcourt pairing in Memphis.

Update: Shoot.  Apparently that joke has been used a lot already.

Best Video Ever?

I certainly can't think of a better one. Some guy bought the band from from a Chuck E. Cheese and animated it to Usher's "Love in This Club." Witness below:

Props to my friend Peter for showing this to me.ps to my friend Peter for showing this to me.

ENOUGH

I've had enough of basketball television personalities using the phrase "score the ball."  It is absolutely unnecessary to specify what is being scored.  It's OKay to just say "score."  People will know what you are talking about.  It is unambiguous as it is.  Nobody is out on the court trying to score his shoes.  Next time I hear somebody say "Michael Beasley really knows how to score the ball," I am going to score a first to his face.

On an unrelated note, if you were to calculate some sort of highlight plays to meaningful-statistics-that-serve-as-a-reasonable-measure-of-a-player's-positive-production-for-his-team (such as points, assists, etc.) ratio, whom do you think would lead the NBA?  I'm not sure, but the first player to come to my mind is Tyrus Thomas.  I just saw a YouTube video of his dunks and, while the compilation was a breathtaking show of athleticism, at the video's conclusion, I felt like I had just watched every point Thomas has scored since entering the NBA.  Tyrus Thomas needs to score the ball more.  *PUNCH*

Is Tyrus Thomas a bust?  In the limited playing time he has received over his first two seasons, he has shown tantalizing flashes of potential as well as numerous mistakes.  I think that this season is his last chance to prove that he is not a bust.  If he cannot break out this season, he will just add to LSU's rich tradition of producing long, athletic power forwards who bust in the NBA.  Just like Stromile Swift and Anthony Randolph's future self.

Christmas...

It comes early for Bulls fans this year.  I would have posted about their draft lottery win yesterday, but I have been too busy watching Derrick Rose highlights.  I didn't finish until just now because there are so many.

How do you like the Bulls now, D'Antoni?

Bottom Friends

I've noticed that there's a Facebook app called "Top Friends" that allows you to distinguish your best friends from the rest of the rabble in a very public way in your profile.

I'm not a big fan of this idea.  But if there were a "Bottom Friends" app that allowed you to do the same thing with your worst friends, I would be on it like a panda.

Roy, you need to get on this.  It's like a second chance Assbook.
